Power Outages Dec 2023

Dear NAPS Community,

I wanted to update you on the current situation regarding power outages in our town. Currently, 6 out of 8 schools plus the Central Office are without power, along with 3379 households town-wide. Additionally, there are trees and wires down across town. Restoration efforts have begun but have been slowed down by high winds, which have made it dangerous for crews to work with buckets in the air. 

I have just gotten off the phone with National Grid and they have informed me that this storm has hit Eastern Massachusetts particularly hard, leaving over 170,000 customers without power. Crews are being called in from as far as New York to assist in restoring power to our area. 

As a result, I wanted to inform you that there is a possibility that school may be canceled tomorrow. We will make a decision in the morning after assessing the situation, and if school is canceled you will be notified by 5:45 AM. I understand that this may cause an inconvenience for your family, but please know that the safety of our students and staff is our top priority.
