The NAHS Guidance Scholarship Program for the Class of 2023 is available from February 1 - 28, 2023. Information on the application process was sent to seniors and their parents via email on January 31, 2023. Please click on the "NAHS Guidance Scholarship Program" link below for details and instructions on how the program works. If you would like to print a copy of the instructions, please click here.

Welcome to the NAHS Guidance Department Scholarship Program for the
North Andover High School Class of 2023 Seniors!
There are over $225,000 worth of scholarships in our program, which are designated for NAHS seniors.

AN OVERVIEW OF PROGRAM
With the generous help and expertise of Christine McElhiney, Administrative/Technical Assistant in the Information Technology Department for the Town of North Andover, the NAHS Guidance Department presents its exclusively online Scholarship Program for the NAHS Class of 2023 Seniors.
Our Scholarship Program will be accessible only to North Andover High School seniors from Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 9:00 AM until Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at 10:00 PM, at which time the link to the program will be taken off-line. Please note that recipients of these scholarships will be revealed at our annual Scholarship Knight for Seniors, scheduled for the evening of Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 6:30 pm at North Andover High School.
Highlights of the scholarship application process:

Students will review the scholarships in our program and determine the ones they wish to apply.

They will then complete a NAPS - NAHS Scholarship Program Student Information Form which will be used to pre-populate student data onto each scholarship application on their list.

Once this form is completed, the student can then start applying to EACH scholarship they have identified.

There are two categories of scholarships in our program: Sections A and B.
Section A scholarship recipients will be selected by the NAHS Guidance Department Scholarship Committee based on specific criteria provided by each donor and posted under the scholarship description.
Section B scholarship recipients are selected by the donors, based on the specific criteria also posted under each scholarship description.
Transcript Requests:
Some of our Section B scholarships require a transcript in PDF format to be uploaded with your application. Please email Mrs. Fallis fallism@nak12.com or Mrs. Conti at contid@nak12.com for an electronic copy of your transcript in PDF format. KEEP THE TRANSCRIPT IN PDF FORMAT and upload it when required.
Recommendation Requests:
A few of our Section B scholarships require recommendations to be sent to the donor. Please email Mrs. Fallis at fallism@nak12.com or Mrs. Conti at contid@nak12.com, specifying which teacher/Guidance Counselor college recommendation you want to be sent to the donor. The recommendation will be sent for you to the designated donor. It will not be sent directly to you.

All of the transcripts and/or recommendations requests must be made through EMAIL ONLY.

Requests for transcripts and/or recommendations will be accepted between February 1, 2023 and February 27, 2023 ONLY. We will try to fulfill your request within 24 hours.

STEP 1:

Research the scholarships in our program by using the link "NAPS - NAHS Scholarship List" .

Click the black bar to expand the Sections A and B drop down menus.

Click on the
icon to get detailed information on each scholarship including a description and the basis for which recipients will be selected. We suggest that you make a list of the scholarships that interest you.

When you are ready to apply, proceed to Step 2.
STEP 2:

Complete your STUDENT INFORMATION FORM by using the link "NAPS - NAHS Scholarship Program Student Information" (This form must be completed one time ONLY).

Click on the black bar to close or expand your Student Information Form.

You MUST use your SCHOOL EMAIL ADDRESS. All letters MUST be in lowercase letters (ie: smithjo23@northandoverpublicschools.com). DO NOT USE YOUR PERSONAL EMAIL ADDRESS.

Make sure you answer all of the required questions with an * or you will not be able to submit your form

We strongly recommend that you complete ALL of the sections of this form as the information you provide will give the donor a more accurate picture of who you are as a student.

Enter your 4-digit PIN #, which is your Date of Birth (mmdd): i.e. January 1st is entered as 0101.

“Sign” by checking the appropriate box, enter “Date”, and click “Submit”.

IMPORTANT: Once you have submitted your Student Information Form you will receive an email with a personal link. Click on it and once your Student Information Form opens up, bookmark the page. Also, we strongly recommend saving this link in a google doc. It is very important to save your personal link because it will allow you to return to your Student Information Form each time you would like to apply for another scholarship. Use this link if changes to an existing application need to be made.

You are now ready to apply for the scholarships. Proceed to Step 3.
STEP 3:

To start applying for scholarships, if not already there, return to your Student Information Form. It will be in your bookmarks or you can click on the personal link to your form in the email you received after filling it out or saved in the google doc you created under Step 2.

You will be asked to list the names of the colleges you are applying to along with specific financial information pertaining to each college. Click on the
icon to add the names of your colleges. You will be entering the financial information for each college separately.

To begin applying for your scholarships, select the first scholarship you would like to apply to from the drop down menu. Each scholarship has different requirements, so you must apply for them one at a time.

While in your Student Information Form, click on the
icon to apply for the scholarship you have selected. The scholarship application will then appear.

Any field with an * is a required field. If you do not complete the field, you will not be able to submit your application.

We strongly recommend that you complete ALL of the sections of the application as the information you provide will give the donor a more accurate picture of who you are as a student.

For those scholarships that require additional items such as essays, transcripts, and resumes, there will be an "Upload" button to upload a PDF of these items. If you do not upload the required documents you will not be able to apply for the scholarship you have selected.

If you have created your additional documents in Google Docs, please convert them to a PDF first before uploading. Open the Google doc, go to "File", then click on "Download" and then click on PDF. You can then upload the PDF to your application.

NOTE: Some scholarships require recommendation letters. Recommendations follow a different procedure: request your Teacher/Counselor college recommendation via email to the NAHS Guidance Dept. (fallism@nak12.com or contid@nak12.com) and we will email your recommendation directly to the donor for you. For personal recommendations, just email your reference and have them send their letter directly to the donor email address that you provide.

Once your application is complete, click on the "Signature" button at the bottom of the page.

Enter your 4-digit PIN #, which is your Date of Birth (mmdd), and press “Click to Validate”. Your PIN # will need to be added each time you apply for or update a scholarship application.

Press "Submit."

The scholarships you apply for will appear under the heading, "Scholarships I Have Applied To" on your Student Information Form.

To apply for additional scholarships, go back to the Scholarship drop-down menu at the top of your Student Information Form and repeat instructions under Step 3.
NOTES:

Each time you apply for a new scholarship you will receive a confirmation email that your application was successfully submitted.

If you want to make changes to an application you previously submitted:
-
Return to your Student Information Form by clicking on your personal original link which is in your bookmarks or saved in the google doc you created under Step 2.

Click on the
icon next to the name of the scholarship you want to change in the, “Scholarships I Have Applied To” section.

Make the changes.
-
Click on the "Signature" button.

Re-enter your 4-digit PIN # (Your Date of Birth: mmdd).

Press on “Click to Validate.”

Click on "Update". Your changes will be automatically updated in your application.

Please note that each time you update your application after the 1st submission, the scholarship donor will receive another email with an updated application from you. This can be confusing to the scholarship donor, so we recommend that you review your applications carefully before you press “Submit”, and only update your applications if absolutely necessary.

The following scholarships are offered by local and national organizations. For application information, click on the links provided below. Please note that deadlines and specific requirements for each of the scholarships differ greatly. It is the responsibility of the student to make certain that their applications and supporting documents are complete.

Massachusetts AFL-CIO Annual Scholarship-All graduating seniors in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts who are seeking a college degree or job training are eligible to compete. Scholarship awards this year total over half a million dollars. Students must fill out the online application and then take an exam. Exams will be administered during the week of February 6th at North Andover High School. Deadline: December 16, 2022. For scholarship information and study guide, click here.
Henry David Thoreau Scholarship- Each year the Henry David Scholarship is awarded to outstanding Massachusetts high school seniors who are ready to meet the challenges of the ever-evolving, interdisciplinary field of environmental studies. They support academically undergraduates through tuition scholarships to prepare them for environmental leadership. Deadline: February 1st. For application information click here.
UNICO Scholarship- UNICO Merrimack Valley is offering five (5) scholarships of $2500 each to senior students in the Merrimack Valley entering college. UNICO Merrimack Valley is a chapter of UNICO National, an Italian- American organization, which has been in existence for over 100 years. The local chapter has supported Merrimack Valley charities and provided scholarships of over $1,000,000. The applying student must be of Italian descent and live in the Merrimack Valley. Dr. Samuel Bride Scholarship for Future Medical Doctors- This scholarship is available for students in the United States who are currently enrolled in a University or High School, and have plans to attend a University. The scholarship is meant to help a deserving student with scholarship funding who wishes to become a medical doctor. Award of $1,000 to a single student. Deadline: April 15, 2022. Dr. Robert Stravinsky Scholarship for Healthcare Students- This scholarship is available for students in the United States who are currently enrolled in a University or High School, and have plans to attend a University. The scholarship is meant to help a deserving student with scholarship funding who wishes to become a medical doctor. $1,000 will be awarded to one single student. Deadline: April 15, 2023. The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship- This scholarship offers renewable, four-year scholarships to students with financial need who display academic achievement, a sustained commitment to serving others (in school, the community or at home), a consistent history of part-time work, a display of maturity and skills if faced with a challenge, and leadership qualities.
- Must be from New England
- Awards are limited to students seeking their first bachelor's degree at a four-year college
- Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a scale of 4.0
- Students should be involved with community service and have a history of part-time employment
- Must have financial need
- Must either be US citizens or noncitizens with a current lawful presence and work authorization in the US.

Dr. Zinia Thomas Scholarship for Medical Students- This scholarship is available for students in the United States who are currently enrolled in a University or High School, and have plans to attend a University. The scholarship is meant to help a deserving student with scholarship funding who wishes to become a medical doctor. Award of $1,000 to a Single Student. Deadline: May 15, 2023. Dr. Erik Goluboff Scholarship for Future Doctors- This scholarship is available for students in the United States who are currently enrolled in a University or High School, and have plans to attend a University. The scholarship is meant to help a deserving student with scholarship funding who wishes to become a medical doctor.

College Club of Greater Lawrence-The College Club of Greater Lawrence will be awarding fourteen $5,000 scholarships in 2023, two of which are earmarked for students intending to major in education or a related field. Seniors must be pursuing a 4-year degree in college and residents of Lawrence, Methuen, North Andover, or Andover. Recipients are judged on their academic record, leadership, community service, and financial need. Completed applications must be submitted by US Mail with a postmark no later than March 15, 2023.

ALAA Scholarship Application- Statement of purpose and objectives: The American-Lebanese Awareness Association, Inc. (ALAA) has been formed to conduct programs of informational value pertaining to cultural and educational topics regarding Lebanon and the Middle East; to recognize the accomplishments of American-Lebanese in the area; to assist qualified students who reside in NewEngland and who are of American-Lebanese descent through a program of scholarship awards; to provide a forum for speakers of reputation and accomplishments; and to participate and assist in civic, cultural and charitable programs of benefit to the Merrimack Valley in general and to the American-Lebanese population as applicable.
Applicants must meet the following criteria for eligibility:
1. Must be of Lebanese ancestry and reside in New England.
2. Must be a registered full-time student in an undergraduate program for Fall 2023.
3. Must not have already received two ALAA awards in his/her lifetime.
4. Must include with application an OFFICIAL, SEALED TRANSCRIPT of grades through the most recently completed

Merrimack Valley Credit Union and Bridgewater Credit Union Scholarship Program:
- The Lisa Lewis Goodman Community Spirit Award- This award is presented to the student who dedicates themselves to performing good works in their community- both in school and out. The award amount is $2,500.
- Fourteen $1,000 scholarships to students based on their academic success while in high school, their commitment to extracurricular and community activities, as well as their response to the essay question.

The National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) Centennial Scholarships:
This is a new merit-based college scholarship opportunity for high school women who are college-bound. NPC plans to award 10 college scholarships of $2,000 each annually through the new NPS Centennial Scholarships Program. The scholarships may be used to offset college tuition, dues, and fees.

Dr. Francene Gayle Scholarship for Healthcare Students: This scholarship is available for students in the US who are currently enrolled in a university or high school, and have plans to attend a University. The scholarship is meant to help a deserving student with scholarship funding who wishes to have a career in healthcare.

David Woroboff Scholarship for Entrepreneurs-This scholarship is available for students in the United States who are currently enrolled in a University or High School, and have plans to attend a University. The scholarship is meant to help a deserving student with scholarship funding who wishes to become an entrepreneur.

Columbus Citizens Foundation Scholarship- This scholarship can be used for college tuition, medical tuition, or high school tuition. Eligibility: Minimum GPA of 3.5, minimum of 25% Italian Heritage, Application deadline: February 20, 2023.

PB&J Scholarship- This scholarship is for students who have experienced personal challenges that may not have allowed them to perform well academically, but who still have the drive to succeed. Must plan on attending a 2 or 4 year college. Deadline: May 31, 2023.

Charitable and Educational Trust of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America- A maximum of twenty $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. Additional scholarships of varying amounts provided by special donors will also be awarded. Deadline is February 14, 2023. For more information on this scholarship, click here.
Dr. John Manzella Scholarship for Second Opportunities- This scholarship is available for students in the United States who are currently enrolled in a university, or high school students who have plans to attend a university. The scholarship is meant to help a deserving student with scholarship funding who has had to overcome a family member who has been incarcerated.

The 2023 Cathay Bank Foundation Scholarship Program-$20,000 in scholarship awards available. Twenty $1,000 scholarships available for high school seniors planning to attend college as a full-time, degree-seeking
student beginning the Fall of 2023.
Eligibility:
• High school seniors residing in California, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, New York,
Texas, and Washington
• Plan to attend a U.S. Accredited 4-Year College/University or a Community College as a 1st year student in
the Fall of 2023 (if selected, must provide college acceptance letter for verification)
• A minimum cumulative unweighted high school GPA of 3.0
• A household income at or below the Low Income Level (if selected, must provide 2021 or 2022 tax return for
verification)
• Open to ALL MAJORS

Charles E. Larner Family Foundation- The Larner Foundation exists to promote Agriculture through Scholarships, Education using Sustainable Farming Practices, promoting the Family Farm, and offering special help to Children when and where we can. The value will be $2,000.00 each. This is a Non Academic Award.
You must have worked on a farm or in that field for one growing season, or have been involved in FFA or 4-H for 2 years to be eligible. The deadline is April 1st. For more information on this scholarship, click here
Essex Agricultural Society Scholarship- The Essex Agricultural Society DBA Topsfield Fair offers scholarships annually to well-rounded students. A copy of your high school transcript is required, although we look at all of the activities and volunteer performances of the individual in order to base the decision of award.

The Peterson School Scholarship- The Peterson School scholarship (valued at $500) will be awarded to 3 outstanding high school students graduating in June of 2023 who have positively impacted his/her
school community. This scholarship will be valid to use from September 2023-June
2024.
The Peterson School provides students with the most comprehensive trade related
training programs in the New England Area. Many of our courses include both theory
and hands-on training in laboratories. Students are fully prepared to take State
License Exams and be gainfully employed in their field.

Saint Alfio Society Scholarship will be awarding six (6) two thousand dollar scholarships ($2000.00) to eligible Greater Lawrence High School Seniors graduating in 2023. This award will be based on 1. Scholastic Ability, Financial Need, Character and Community Involvement, and School and Outside Activities. For more information, please click here.
Student View Scholarship Program is offering $12,000 worth of scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community/junior college or career school. The Rebekah Assembly is offering a scholarship of $1,000 to qualified seniors who plan to further their education by attending a two- or four- year college program. Deadline is March 31, 2023. For more information, click here
Delta Kappa Gamma Society International is offering a $500 scholarship to a member of the Class of 2023. The following criteria must be met:
1. The applicant must be a female high school student who resides in a Delta Kappa Gamma member community in Essex Count, MA.
2. The applicant must be pursuing a degree in education at a four-year college or university.
3. The applicant must demonstrate leadership qualities and participate in school and community activities.
The completed application must be postmarked and received by April 15, 2023. Each application must be accompanied by a transcript, 2 letters of recommendation (one from school and one from a member of the community) and a personal essay/statement from the student.

Dr. Louis Hampers Scholarship for Medical Students is available for students in the United States who are currently enrolled in a university or high school students who have plans to attend a university. The scholarship is meant to help a deserving student with scholarship funding who wishes to become a medical doctor. Here is some brief information on this scholarship:

The Merrimack Valley Chapter of the American Association of the Critical Care Nurses (MVC-AACN) is a group of local critical care nurses who have joined together to support and enhance nursing knowledge, practice and professional achievement. We will be offering two scholarship awards of $1000 each. We are pleased to support our community and our profession by investing in future nurses. Mark Bavis Leadership Foundation- Any high school student in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is eligible. This scholarship is not academically based, but is awarded on the basis of need. The committee is looking for exceptional leaders and people who have proven leadership within their school. Deadline is March 15, 2023. The Lawrence Ladies Lodge #2026- Sponsored by the Service Center of Greater Lawrence, Inc. A minimum of three scholarships, at a minimum of $1,500 each, will be awarded yearly. The scholarships will be awarded based on need, scholastic ability, and community involvement. For more information on this scholarship, click here.
Merrimack Valley Striders- Student-athletes should apply to this annual scholarships awarded in memory of former club members. They will be awarding ten scholarships in the amount of $2,000 based on a committee review, with a due date of March 31, 2023. Dr Charles Noplis Scholarship for Medical Students- This scholarship is available for students in the United States who are currently enrolled in a university, and high school students who have plans to attend a university. The scholarship is meant to help a deserving student with scholarship funding who wishes to become a medical doctor. Here is some brief information about the scholarship:

The Exchange Club of Lawrence and the Andovers- They are pleased to award college scholarships in an amount up to $2,000.00 to promising youths who are residents of the
three communities we serve. Those students who have been accepted at either a two or four year
institution for the 2023–2024 school year are encouraged to apply.
Preference will be given to those students majoring in Teaching/Education
To be eligible, the applicant must meet the following requirements:
1. The student must be graduating from an accredited high school and have the school’s
unconditional support as an applicant for scholarship consideration.
2. A letter of recommendation from a Guidance Counselor or a Teacher must be submitted with the
application.
3. The student should demonstrate participation in community activities.
4. The student must maintain reasonable grades. High school transcript showing a minimum GPA
of 3.2 must be submitted with the application.
5. Applicant must represent any significant medical or personal challenge that has been overcome,
including death of a parent or sibling, breakup of the family or economic dislocation.

Massachusetts Broadcasters Association- To apply for this scholarship, a student must be a Massachusetts resident, with a declared major in a broadcast-related field and be enrolled or plan to enroll at an accredited two or four-year school. For more information on this scholarship, click here.
